Prior to April 9th, Minister of agriculture Han Changfu and Yuan Longping in the National Hybrid Rice Engineering Technology Research Center of Hainan South breeding base, jointly announced the launch of the fourth stage of super hybrid rice research, and strive to use 5 to 8 years to develop with more than 1000 kilograms per mu yield potential of Super Hybrid rice new varieties.
In Yuan Longping's opinion, to rice, must have four conditions: one is the excellent supporting seed varieties, better; the two is good, cultivation method is better; three is the basis of fertile land, better; four is a good state, the climatic ecological environment better.
This year, the fourth phase of super hybrid rice of 5 test sites in Hunan Province, the other 3 test points. "There are three or four varieties in Hainan after the pilot preliminary will reach more than 900 kilograms per mu, then in Hunan could reach 1000 kilograms per mu." Yuan Longping explained, Hainan only 17 meters above sea level, small temperature difference between day and night, growth period is only 130 days; and that Hunan has a growth period of 150 days, and the temperature difference between day and night. Hunan has chosen Longhui, Xupu 5 counties as the first batch of 1000 kilograms per mu yield of Super Hybrid Rice Research point.
Yuan Longping tells a reporter, the first stage of super hybrid rice demonstration fields per mu yield of 700 kg, extended reach 550 kilograms; second super hybrid rice of 800 kilograms per mu yield reached 600 kilograms, after the promotion. Now, the third phase of super hybrid rice of 900 kilograms per mu yield of target also realized, after the promotion of 650 kg. "The fourth period of Super Hybrid Rice goal, is expected to promote large area to reach 700 kilograms per mu." Yuan Longping said.
